British actress Naomi Watts grew up in Shoreham with her elder brother Ben Watts. Her father is the English sound engineer Peter Watts who worked as road manager for Pink Floyd. Her mother is Welsh antiques dealer Myfanwy Edwards (née Roberts) who also had a career in the burgeoning film business. Her parents divorced when she was four years old. Her father was found dead in a flat with an apparent heroin overdose in August, 1976. She moved with her mother and brother to the Llanfawr family Farm in Llangefni (North Wales) after her fathers dead. The family lives with her mothers maternal grandparents Nikki and Hugh Roberts for three years. She studied succesful at the Welsh language school "Ysgol Gyfun" in Llangefni during that period. She moves later to Suffolk with her family where she studied at the Thomas Mills High School. Even her mother meets a new man who becomes her stepfather. She moves to the Australia city Sydney (her maternal grand mother was Australian) with her mother, brother and stepfather when she was 14 in 1982. Her mother stimulated her to start acting lessons during her time in Australia. She studied at the Mosman High School and later at the North Sydney Girls High School.

She had an relation with director Stephen Hopkins in the 90s and had an relation with actor Heath Ledger from august 2002 until may 2004. She falls in love on actor Liev Schreiber after their meeting at the New York Met ball in the spring of 2005. Her mother inspires her to become movie actress after seeing her mother performing on stage in the film "Fame" (1980). She made her action movie debut as Jet Girl next to Lori Petty who plays the lead role as Tank Girl in ''Tank Girl'' (1995). Tank Girl and her friends are the only remaining citizens on earth who live in wasteland. The remaining water is controlled by the mega corporation/government Water and Power. Tank Girl and some mutant kangaroo/humans fight against the Water and Powers company in order to save world's water supply.

She plays Molly in this story about former cop Jim Holland (played by Joe Mantegna) who works as security expert in ''Persons Unknown'' (1996). Jim is hired to protect a client against robbers after his meeting with a woman named Amanda (played by Kelly Lynch). She steals the security codes of his client while they have a romantic night. Amanda and her sister Molly rob the stash of his client and Jim notices that his client is a dangerous drug dealers.

She plays female reporter Jennifer Evans in this story about the Millennium Building who is one of New York's most famous landmarks where the express elevators are damaged in "Down" (2001). Elevator mechanic Mark Newman (played by James Marshall) is sent out to find the cause of the problem. An deadly incident happens during his investigations of the elevator. She plays actress Ann Darrow who is casted by ambitious movie producer Carl Denham (played by Jack Black) as leading lady in his movie in ''King Kong'' (2005). He must finish his movie and coerces his cast and hired crew, to travel to the mysterious Skull Island. No one knows what they will encounter on this island and why it's so mysterious. King Kong is the name of a giant gorilla who lives on the island. Then the beast grasps leading actress Ann during the filming on the island. Carl and Jack Driscoll (played by Adrien Brody) travel through the jungle in order to free her.

She plays the Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Whitman in this story where Interpol Agent Louis Salinger (played by Clive Owen) and Eleanor determined are to bring one of the world's most powerful banks to justice in ''The International'' (2009). They try to prove the guiltiness of the Salinger and Whitman's investigation bank in an international arms dealing ring. Eleanor and Louis uncover illegal activities as money laundering, arms trading and the destabilization of governments. Their hunt brings them from Berlin to Milan and from New York to Istanbul.
